Even valuable information comes at a cost.

Everyone wants a piece of your attention, and we keep giving it away..

I was going through my mail inbox this morning.

Attend this webinar. Become wealthy. Improve your skills. Discover this revolutionary tool. Unlock an opportunity you apparently cannot afford to miss.

All before 5 AM. Wonderful.

And it struck me how ridiculously overstimulated we have become.

Do not get me wrong. I love learning. Send me down an interesting rabbit hole, and I might disappear for hours.

But even valuable information comes at a cost. Our attention.

You can spend an entire morning consuming brilliant advice without accomplishing a single thing towards your own goals.

And somehow, still walk away feeling behind.

Do more. Learn more. Earn more. Become more.

But according to whom, exactly?

Here is the irony. I work with branding and content creation, yet I barely use social media privately and regularly consider deleting it altogether. I absolutely love creating beautiful visuals and writing compelling content. I just have very little interest in consuming everyone else’s.

In fact, one of the things I find appealing about working for a company that is not my own is the opportunity to focus on what I genuinely love and do best, without constantly having to market myself on social media. To step away from the screen, meet people face to face, build meaningful relationships and make a real difference in the physical world rather than constantly trying to be visible in the digital one.

I understand the commercial value of attention. I just increasingly question the price we pay for it.

Personally, I would much rather learn from a good book, have meaningful conversations and put myself in the right rooms than spend hours scrolling through a feed of people telling me how to live my life.

I believe in ambition, lifelong learning and financial freedom. But personal growth should be personal.

Perhaps the problem is not that we are encouraged to improve, but that everyone seems determined to tell us what to improve.

We talk endlessly about managing our time, yet barely question what we allow to influence our minds.

So here is a question worth asking yourself:

How much of what you consume every day is actually helping you build the life you want, and how much is simply making you question the life you already have?
